Katowice International Airport
Katowice International Airport ("Miedzynarodowy Port Lotniczy Katowice-Pyrzowice: in Polish, airport code KTW), is located in the town of Pyrzowice, from which it gets its name. At 30 km north of the city centre of Katowice, it's easily accessible from Katowice, which itself is well-connected with bigger cities like Cracow and Wroclaw.
According to ACI (Airport Council International) organization surveys Katowice International Airport is one of the most developing airports in Europe, which has dynamic growth of air traffic. In November 2005 Upper Silesian Aviation Group began next investment because of necessity of extension and modernization of existing Katowice International Airport infra-structure. It became result of liberalization of air service market in year 2004 and reason of necessity of adaptation Poland to European Union law requirements and also to Schengen requirements. This investment ("Extension of Passenger Terminal and adaptation Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice to Schengen requirements - stages 2005-2007") is long-term project and the end is planned in year 2007.
